The Church website now hosts MP3 downloads of the entire Standard Works, and many other Church resources, including Preach My Gospel, Jesus The Christ and Teachings of the Presidents of the Church. I don’t know how long this has been up, but I just noticed it today; however, I admit I haven’t been by the Church’s website in a few days. I’ve listened to a couple of offerings and they seem to work very well. I haven’t yet tried downloading and transfering over to my iPod, but I will likely try that out over the weekend. This is a great resource for listening to scriptures or other Church content in the car, or where ever else you might be with time on your hands, and your iPod available. Great stuff!

I thought this question from the FAQ page was hilarious:
Q. What kind of player device should I use?
A. The Church does not endorse any particular audio player, device, or software program.

Thanks. My Book of Mormon CDs are missing one CD (the one that was in the changer when the car caught fire). I’ve balked at buying an entire new set. But, if I can download an mp3 for the missing CD portion and burn that to a CD, I can play it in the car.

The MP3s of the scriptures have been there for years — I was listening to them at work back in 2005. But the Joseph Smith manual was only finished in English a few weeks ago, and the other languages are coming up now:
Spanish, Russian, Korean, Mandarin: May 30,
2008
Portuguese, French, Cantonese, German, Italian: June 5, 2008
Japanese: June 12, 2008
(you all don’t know how thrilled I am about the Russian — and it’s coming before the French recording for once, WOOT.)
Use http://www.ldswebguy.com to keep track of some of these sorts of things, or sign up for GEMS updates on lds.org — they email me every time something new comes on the site.

Finally! It’s up on the site.
It seems that the audio version of conference isn’t posted until the conference Ensign is out.
