Mormon Stories

Back in June 2012 Daniel C. Peterson, was fired as FARMS/Maxwell Institute editor of the FARMS Review.  Part and parcel of that controversy was the existence, but at that point, yet unpublished article by Gregory L. Smith, also formerly of FARMS dealing with John Dehlin of Mormon Stories.

Much has been written, blogged, Facebooked and speculated about Smith’s paper.  Today the speculation ends with its publication by The Interpreter, Daniel Peterson’s (with others) latest project.  You can find the paper along with an accompanying second article by Gregory Smith about his version of the John Dehlin affair here: Dubious “Mormon” Stories: A Twenty-First Century Construction of Exit Narratives, and here: Return of the Unread Review: A Mormon Story.

I have not yet been able to read both in their entirety, as they were posted to Daniel Peterson’s blog and Facebook page late last evening; however, both look to be interesting reading . . .

John Dehlin, in his never ending class act at self promotion and denigration of any who dare criticize his methods, keeping it classy over at his Mormon Stories Facebook page with this latest post:

I know I should be charitable toward you, John.  You’re a “brother” in the Community of Saints.  I should refrain from the “ad hominem” attacks you are so fond of flinging at anyone who dares criticize anything you do.  But, I just gotta say, John:  The reality is I’m the weakest of those who are or who can be called a Saint.  I’m the guy who Benjamin had exactly in mind when he wrote Mosiah 3:19.   So, you’ll just have to excuse my own classless characterization of you.  I just think you’re a pathetic prick . . .  (More of the Facebook Comments from the Mormon Stories Facebook Page below the fold) (more…)
