So, what will happen?  Do our lesbian/gay sisters and brothers lose all their rights?  Do they revert to second class citizens, as some ads suggest?  You’ve probably seen the television ads portraying Proposition 8 as the same as denying civil rights to our African American sisters and brothers prior to the Civil Rights Act and Civil Rights Movement of the 40’s 50’s and 60’s.  As best I can tell none of this is true.  Rather, what will happen on November 5, 2008, should Proposition 8 prevail at the polls with a majority vote of California’s residents follows below the jump: (more…)

Last evening, 10/08/08, Elders M. Russell Ballard and Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and Elder L. This morning marks the begining of the 178th Semi Annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  You can watch a live Internet feed here.  As time permits I will live blog the sessions I am able to watch.  For those who may not have heard of the LDS General Conference before, I would urge you listen live if you can.  If not, I would encourage you to read the talks that are given.  You can read about the conference talks when they are posted here.

General Conference

The concluding session of conference is about to begin.  I know I have been spritually filled with powerful messages and testimonies of the prophets and apostles who have spoken during the conference.  I am certain millions more around the globe have been likewise filled.  I am sure this last session will be as uplifiting as the others have been.  Open threads are at Mormon Mentality, Mormon Matters, Times and Seasons, and By Common Consent, where Steve Evans prays for a minor, or major miracle.
